The perfect Cats Eye

If you want to acheive the perfect cat’s eye you need to bring the eyeliner to the edge of your eye and then kick up almost like a tick

then you can join it up from the end of the tick to the rest of the liner, if you find it difficult you could always use a peice of surgical tape as a guide for your liner

once your done you have a perfect straight edge and you take your tape of, of course!

Getting it straight

A lot of people get stressed about making the liner perfectly straight on top of the eye, there is an easy solution, buy yourself a pencil brush or even use a cotton bud and after you have applied the liner either liquid or pencil then smudge through, to smooth out the line, works wonders.

Smokey eye effect

To get a smokey eye effect with pencil liner you would need to draw all over the lid with the kohl and then in the waterline and on the top of the lash line

Try not to go under the lash line to much as this can cause that “punched in the eye” effect, which is not what we want

Then with a blending brush blend softly until you create the effect you want.

If you find it has gone a little over the top, get a cotton bud and soak it with make-up remover and just erase what you don’t want.

Be Brave

Whether its day or night walk with a good posture and hold your head with pride. Those who walk with an uncomfortable stance will project an unconfident and vulnerable image to others. Those who stride with confidence are less likely to be questioned.

Learn to Laugh

Learn to laugh. A good friend of mine who recently spoke about confidence building at one of our Hot Candys events spoke about the power of humour.

Whilst out one day out dressed and being approached by a group of young people who jeered ‘your a man in a dress arn’t you?’ she replied well I certainly hope so, and laughed back at them! At her crisp honesty and wit the group didn’t know how to react and soon afterwards left her alone. So girls, learn to laugh as the power of humour is not only a good means of communication but also an invaluable tool.

Feel Good Secrets

Wear what makes you feel good! Sounds quite self explanatory I know but seriously its the little things. Potty as it sounds I have two things that help me, my ‘special’ perfume (ok ok its Chanel Chance) and my blue lacy knickers! Every time I wore my blue knickers good things happened…I got job interviews…won money on the lottery…lost weight etc so when I was having a rubbish week I used to wear them to cheer me up and boost my confidence! The perfume is one I wear to important meetings, exhibitions and special nights out like the theatre or orchestra, so again when I was feeling like I needed a little confidence boost I’d wear it. Immediately the smell would make me feel like I was in a position of calm and control and with that I felt more confident. So it could be anything, a piece of music, a favourite drink or place to eat but do it. It’s all the little things that help.

Be Safe

This point I’d like to emphasise the most girls.

Its simple and straightforward but stay safe. This doesn’t mean that you have to stay in but if your going out then plan journeys beforehand. Research new areas and cities and be aware of trans friendly venues and areas. Make sure you always have a taxi number of a local firm packed with your lippy; and don’t forget to play safe too!

So then girlies as the snow settles and the chill brings a little rouge to our cheeks we ask ourselves what can a girl do to keep warm and stay looking glamorous in these conditions?

Well, accessorise of course!

Scarves – be them soft pashmina style, long warm and woollen, or pretty patterned satin scarves are the perfect way to enhance and compliment an outfit.

Because we love being helpful we’ve put this post together to take you through the basics of finding the right eyeliner for you.

The two most commonly used types of eyeliner are:

• Eyeliner Pencil

  We suggest starting out with the Eyeliner pencil which is easier to apply, until you have perfected your technique

• Liquid eyeliner

  This can be tricky to apply, requiring a steady hand for smooth application – but with some practice it offers great results.

It is always best to test eyeliners before you buy although this can often be difficult in many stores.  It’s also best to avoid the cheapest products as these can often be waxy or oily, making them difficult to apply and limiting their ability to stay on once hot.

Liquid eyeliners come with two main types of applicators:

• Brush applicator

  Cheaper liquid eyeliners tend to come with brush applicators – they work but can be tricky to use

• Curved end felt tip pen style applicator

  A curved pen style applicator can be mastered, with a bit of practice, for small flicks at the side of the eyes relatively quickly

Application

• Pencil eyeliners can be used for both above the top and bottom lashes, where as liquid eyeliner can only be used on the top lid.
• For a more subtle, softer look instead of using a pencil try using a small makeup brush with a dark eyeshadow.
• Apply above and below lashes to make the eyes appear wider and slightly smoky.
• For a slightly lengthened look draw this line our towards the ends of the eyes.

Always choose the right neckline for your frame

The Halter Neck A dress with a halter neck will tend to enhance shoulders, this can be balanced if worn with a sheer scarf draped over the shoulders and / or long gloves
Dipped Neckline A softer, dipped neckline or a slighter deeper, curved neckline on a sleeved dress will balance the shape and give a more even sillouette. For a classy look choose a dress with stretch lace or mesh sleeves, this way you get the figure balance and also have that added sexy chic to your look.
High Neckline For a real diva look choose a dress with a high neckline but avoid this if you have a short neck. Choose high neck dresses with sleeves and individual detail for balance. You can check out our high necked velvet dress in the shop (also available in Black!)

Choosing the right length dress for your look

Short does not always have to mean tarty but if your after classy and short head for something that falls between the knee and mid thigh – REMEMBER you must allow for sitting down, unless you want everyone in the restaurant to see your knickers!

If you’re looking for a long dress then make sure you choose the right length and ALLOW for heels.
Theres nothing more dissapointing than a long dress which ends up sitting mid calf!
